Week Ahead 15 – 21 March

Dear Friends
The 2018 Durban Festival of Chariots is just 14 days away!
Lord Jagannath’s Chariots Complete Renovation
After 15 years of touch-ups, the devotees decided that in celebration of the festival’s 30th anniversary, we will completely renovate the Lords’ chariots. A team of devotees has been hard at work since December 2017 stripping down the chariot and in essence starting from scratch. All the wood has been replaced, new decorative pieces have been recast and painted, and there will be three beautiful new canopies. For parade details, please go to http://www.festivalofchariots.info/parade-routes/
What is the Nama-hatta Market Day?
The Nama-hatta Market Day is an awareness campaign. You are invited to assist the devotees in your area to spread the word about the festival. Our Nama-hattas are armed with flyers and DFOC info brochures to share with the public. We have combined the Monthly Sankirtan Festival and the Nama-Hatta Market Day. Devotees can flood Durban with invitations to the festival. Details in the Week Ahead.
Durban Festival of Chariots Awareness
Keep an eye out this weekend for festival banners at the following bridges: Berea Tollgate, Moses Mabida Stadium, and Suncoast. Our street pole posters will be flooding Durban and surrounding areas too.
