Dear Friends,
Hare Krishna!
While Woolworths, Edgars and Stuttafords have their sales, the spiritual world
has an unrivaled sale. While the stores roll out their red carpets, and try to
entice with “75% off”, it pales in comparison to what the month of Kartik has
on offer. In a world that is dominated by the obsession of the “haves” and
“have-nots” the real “must have item” this summer is the all auspicious glance
of Srimati Radharani. We, at Sri Sri Radha Radhanath Temple, are fully
equipped and ready to assist you in getting that much sort after glance.
Kartik, or the Month of Damodar is the purest of purifiers and most glorious of
all months. The Kartik month is particularly dear to Lord Sri Krishna. This
month is saturated with the Lord’s merciful disposition as bhakta-vatsala, one
who is especially inclined to His devotees. Any vrata, even the smallest, will
yield huge results. The effect of performing a Kartik vrata lasts for one
hundred lifetimes. Kartik or the festival of offering lamps to Lord Krishna,
glorifies Lord Krishna’s pastime of being bound with ropes by Mother Yasoda.
Sri Sri Radha Radhanath temple is embarking on the initiative to give over
5,000 people the opportunity to offer lamps either at the temple or in their
homes. We have compiled a Kartik altar and pamphlet which will be freely
distributed.
To start the Kartik festivities we are hosting an adivas ceremony on Sunday, 28
October at 4pm. An adivas ceremony is designed to clear our path to Sri Sri
Radha Radhanath, where we will offer various auspicious items to the Deities
along with kirtan. Please attend this special ceremony to optimally launch your
Kartik experience.
We would like to offer a milk drink or sweet to all who attend the evening
program during Kartik. If you would like to sponsor the drink please contact
the devotees at the book table to reserve a day.
Following are the schedules for the Adivas and first night of Kartik programs.
